"There are actually two townlands in County Down called 'Drumlough'. As you probably know, it's not uncommon to have two or even more townlands with the same name in Ireland, even within the same county."

The first Drumlough is 1,092 acres and is located in the Civil Parish of Dromore, about 4 1/2 miles northeast of the town of Dromore. There's no major road nearby, but this Drumlough is north of the B2 road. In Gaelic, this Drumlough means "ridgy place" or "ridge".

Note: Based on my research, our McMurray family emigrated to America from this Drumlough townland.

The second Drumlough is 695 acres and is located in the Civil Parish of Drumgath, just south-west of the town of Rathfriland. The B7 road runs right through this townland. Since there is a lake nearby, this Drumlough means "ridge of the lake" in Gaelic.
